How it is made
It ties at the front rather than buttoning, which was a decision about how children are actually dressed — a tie forgives a size in either direction and there is nothing to come loose in the wash. The cherries are worked in a raised satin stitch, so they sit slightly proud of the cloth and a child can feel them.
